What Is an Intensive Granulation Mixer?

An intensive mixer — also known as an intensive granulator or high-shear mixer — uses a rotating bowl combined with high-speed mixing blades (impeller) and a chopper blade to create a three-dimensional flow of material. This motion simultaneously achieves uniform blending of all components and controlled agglomeration into granules of the desired particle size. Unlike pan granulators or ribbon blenders, the intensive mixer completes mixing and granulation in a single step, typically within 5–15 minutes depending on the material system.

Ceramic industry: Granulation of alumina, zirconia, cordierite, and other technical ceramic powders for dry pressing.
